Their writing can be the most significant factor when it comes to the grading scale in English, Social Sciences, and other courses, so learning how to write and finesse compelling paragraphs and finished essays are crucial. As high school students enter college preparatory and/or honors-level English courses, the ability to construct persuasive, meaningful and concise writing can be impacted by various time constraints. In-class essays (a written essay that students are required to compose during a designated time period within a classroom setting) become a common feature of many classes, regardless of the subject. Free response questions (FRQ’s ) or essay questions are a type of open-ended question commonly used in schools to test students' "learning", as well as in entrance exams and sometimes as part of job application or screening processes. DBQs are designed to test a student's knowledge of a historical topic by requiring them to analyze historical documents and use their own knowledge to construct an answer. become critical to performance on AP Examinations. Additionally, as high school students prepare for college, personal statements and college admissions essays can become the single most important factor of the student’s admission or rejection from their university or college that they are applying to.

What is a Writing Lesson like?

Specialized Lessons by our Tutors

Bright Horizon Learning LLC believes that learning should be individualized and therefore there is no one-size-fits-all.

Our tutors get to know your child and their specialized learning style, strengths and the areas in which they could use that critically important confidence boost.

Tutors Who Mentor and Show Support

When your child signs online for their Writing lesson, our tutors at Bright Horizon Learning, LLC, will greet them on a personal level, sketch the goals of the lesson, and then do what they do best: teach. Based on your child’s last session and their overall understanding/performance, a new lesson is specifically-designed to take their skills further and help them catch up, get ahead and become more confident in their writing.

A Perfect Blend

Our Writing tutors then spend the rest of the session engaging in example questions/problems with your child, allowing your child to then work independently to show that they have retained the important material and then talk through those matters in which your child might need more instruction and support, with the ultimate end-goal of subject-matter mastery and becoming an independent learner.
