Teachers College (TC) Math is set up in order to develop the crucial math skills your child needs to succeed in elementary school. Students first demonstrate understanding and master basic computational operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, before then engaging with conceptual math – which refers to understanding the basic ideas and "why" behind mathematical operations, rather than just memorizing procedures. (E.g. grasping that a fraction represents a part of a whole, allowing them to visualize and reason about different fractions, even if they look different numerically, instead of just knowing how to perform calculations with them mechanically, word problems, multi-step problems, real-world applications, etc).

When your child signs online for their Math lesson, our tutors at Bright Horizon Learning, LLC, will greet them on a personal level, sketch the goals of the lesson and then do what they do best: teach. Based on your child’s last session and their overall understanding/performance, a new lesson is specifically-designed to take their skills further and help them catch up, get ahead and become more confident in Math.

Our Math tutors then spend the rest of the session engaging in example questions/problems with your child, allowing your child to then work independently to show that they have retained the important material and then talk through those matters in which your child might need more instruction and support, with the ultimate end-goal of subject-matter mastery and becoming an independent learner.
